Why is the segment code LCD screen blurry


Segment LCD screens can sometimes experience issues such as unclear display codes, shadows, and light or dark fonts. How should these problems be addressed?

 

Unclear or blurry display codes on a segment LCD screen can be explained by the presence of ghosting or bleeding. Ghosting refers to the display of unintended content on the screen, caused by the driving voltage of the segmented LCD circuit being higher than the operating voltage it should be. On the other hand, when the operating voltage is insufficient, the font or segment color appears lighter, which is the opposite of ghosting. To address both of these issues, the driving voltage of the segment LCD screen needs to be set according to the operating voltage, typically adjusted by directly modifying the resistors for Vdd and VLCD.

 

However, there is another special case that can lead to unclear or blurry segment LCD screen, and this is related to its viewing angle. It's important to know that segment LCD screens can have different viewing angles, with the most common being 6 o'clock viewing angle and 12 o'clock viewing angle. Regardless of the screen type, if the viewing angle is 6 o'clock, it means that the display content can be clearly seen when looking at the screen from a vertical direction starting at 6 o'clock. If we look at the screen from 12 o'clock, the display might become unclear or blurry, and in such cases, the mold needs to be reopened and adjusted to the correct viewing angle.

 

Therefore, when selecting a segment LCD screen for molding, customers should consider aspects such as viewing angle, operating voltage, and temperature. If the expected display effect is not achieved, it may be necessary to reopen the mold and adjust it to achieve the desired display effect. This can result in additional costs and time.
