TFT-LCD Industry Adapts to Policy-Driven Ultra-HD Growth in China

China's TFT-LCD industry is aligning with the government’s 2025-2026 electronic information industry policy, which targets 40% domestic penetration of 75-inch+ TVs and emphasizes ultra-HD display development. Major manufacturers like BOE are accelerating innovation, with the latest UB Cell 4.0 TFT-LCD solution achieving 0.7% reflectivity and 1400:1 environmental contrast ratio. The policy also prioritizes supply chain resilience, driving investments in domestic driver IC production to reduce import dependence. Market data shows that 75-inch+ TV sales accounted for 37.4% of China’s market in H1 2025, reaching 48.2% during the 618 shopping spree. To meet growing demand, TFT-LCD producers are optimizing large-size panel production lines, with CSOT announcing a 10% capacity increase for 8K panels. Industry experts project that China’s TFT-LCD output will account for 78% of the global total in 2026, as the country transitions from scale leadership to technological dominance in the display sector.
