TCL Huaxing Commences Mass Production of COB LCD for Mini LED Displays

TCL Huaxing has officially launched mass production of COB (Chip on Board) LCD-based Mini LED displays at its Suzhou facility, marking a significant milestone in the technology's commercialization. The first mass-produced product, the P1.2 COB display, features adjustable brightness (0-800nit) and a 5000:1 contrast ratio, targeting conference rooms, command centers, and surveillance systems. DISCIEN data reveals that COB technology’s global market share in LED small-pitch displays reached 23.6% in Q1 2025, with China’s penetration rate hitting 32%. However, the industry faces supply-demand challenges: monthly COB production capacity is expected to exceed 90,000 ㎡ in 2025, while global demand is only around 50,000 ㎡, leading to a 60-65% capacity utilization rate. TCL’s entry into mass production is set to accelerate industry consolidation, with the company aiming to drive COB cost reductions of 30% by 2026. The move aligns with China’s electronic information industry policy, which emphasizes advanced display technologies as key growth drivers.
