Global TFT-LCD Panel Prices Set to Rise in Q1 2026 Amid Supply Shortages

The global TFT-LCD market is entering a tight supply phase in the first quarter of 2026, driven by production cuts from major manufacturers and ongoing memory chip shortages. According to a recent report from TrendForce, prices of 32-inch, 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch TFT-LCD TV panels will increase by $1 each in January, marking the start of an upward cycle. Major Chinese panel makers including HKC, BOE, and CSOT plan to suspend factory operations in February to reduce labor costs and ease inventory burdens, leading to a 3.8% drop in supply—more than twice the 1.8% decline in demand. Since TFT-LCD panels account for approximately 95% of global TV shipments, this supply-demand imbalance is expected to push up finished TV prices in the coming months. Samsung’s co-CEO TM Roh warned that no company is immune to the memory crisis, which will further add cost pressure to high-end TFT-LCD smart TVs. Industry analysts predict the tight supply situation may persist until the second quarter if component constraints continue.
